SPARE PARTS FOR COMET PUMPS

COMET's OWN RECOMMENDATION

Diaphragm pumps are the core of any spray boom or sprayer system. Therefore, their correct and punctual maintenance ensures the correct operation of these machines and optimizes their performance.

Routine maintenance should be carried out at the end of each season or after 300 hours of operation. However, it is good practice to carry out preparatory steps for a correct operation - before, during and after each use - in order to avoid breakdowns or low performance.

GOOD PRACTICES FOR A CORRECT USE OF THE PUMP
First of all, before starting, inspect your pump and make sure that the hydraulic system shows no signs of wear or clogging.
Also check that connections are tight and the pump is properly secured to its chassis.
One element to keep under constant control is the oil level, since perfect lubrication helps the operation of the individual components of the pump and increases its overall performance.

HOT TIP !
If the oil color (light yellow and clear when new) turns dark after a short time, it means that pistons or other components are rubbing in the cylinders.
If it turns gray or milky, one or more diaphragms are torn or perforated.
In both cases, you should consider some thorough maintenance.
The same is true if drops in level are not fixed by topping up.

COMET's step-by- step guide on how to start and finish the work with your Comet pump

CHECK-UP; Before every use, inspect the pump and check:
• the plumbing for weak and/or worn conditions and for clogging
• make sure all connections are tight
• the pump is securely fastened to the chassis
OIL LEVEL; Always maintain oil level as marked on the oil glass and refill when necessary. In case of milky colour, stop operation and proceed with repairs.
SERVICE; After every 300 hours or at season’s end (whichever comes first):
• install a new set of diaphragms
• inspect valves and change the oil
• always drain and flush pump with clean water before servicing or disassembling
AFTER USE; After every use, flush the pump and the entire circuit with clean water. Please remember to pay particular attention to rinsing strainers and filters as well.
WINTER STORAGE; Flush the pump with a mix of water and anti-freeze liquid and drain the manifolds before winter storage.
